Overview: 

This programme has been created in response to industry demand for graduates with the knowledge and technical skills to design, create, operate and maintain network infrastructures for modern distributed computer systems. Opportunities exist to work with the latest tools and technologies to develop a sound theoretical understanding and gain confidence through practical experience. Students will be supported in developing personal and professional skills enabling graduates to communicate effectively and make a positive contribution in the workplace across a variety of roles and a wide range of organisations.

Students can take industrial examinations such as Cisco, Certified Hacker, Enterprise Architecture, Microsoft and Java certifications and develop valuable personal and professional skills. All students are automatically enrolled as student members of the British Computer Society the chartered body responsible for establishing and maintaining technical and ethical standards in the profession.

 

The aims of the programme are:

  • To provide students with practical experience in using current generation tools and techniques
  • To familiarise students with the issues and concerns involved in network implementation and management
  • To equip students with the skills to deal with the demands of distributed enterprise application development

Entry Requirements: 

Entry to Year One:
SEGi Foundation in Information Technology
Pass STPM with at least 2 science subjects

Entry to Year Two:
SEGi Diploma in Computer Studies
Applicants must also be able to demonstrate a level of English equivalent to IELTS 6.0

The main feeder programmes will be the SEGi Foundation in I.T. and Diploma in Computer Studies programmes but applicants with relevant external qualifications will also be considered as non-standard entrants.

Career Opportunities: 

Graduates can expect to work as IT professionals to build, maintain and support networked computing systems across industry, commerce and the public sector. Opportunities exist to develop a career working as independent consultants or within teams in diverse areas such as telecommunications, networking, business and IT, Internet and e-commerce applications, IT support, research, teaching and training.
